Leanne Mitchell
 
 

Mental Heath Social Worker, BSocSc (Honours), MSocSc, MSW

Leanne is a qualified mental health social worker and relationship counsellor. She provides a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where individuals, couples, and families can explore, overcome and heal from personal and relational challenges.  She uses evidence-based therapeutic approaches based on the needs that arise through session, tailoring her approach to help clients meet their goals.

With over 10 years of experience in adult mental health and 5 years in adolescent mental health, Leanne works with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma. She is also a trained EMDR practitioner and offers ADHD assessments for both adolescents and adults.

Leanne has a particular passion for supporting couples and families. Drawing on systemic and relational therapy models, she helps clients navigate communication difficulties, rebuild connection, and work through life transitions. She is currently undertaking a Master’s in Family and Systemic Therapy to further deepen her work in this area.

Brendan Elliott                                          Psychologist, BPsychSc, GradDipPsych

Brendan comes from a government and private practice background with experience working with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, trauma, psychotic disorders, and domestic violence. He works with clients nine years and over. Brendan takes a holistic and personalised approach to each client, utilising a variety of therapies to assist them to reach their goals (such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). Brendan recognises the uniques difficulties men face in seeking help and provides a safe and nonjudgement space for them to get support. 

Brendan has over 12 years past experience working in the building trade, and understands the stressors that come from that field of work and working away from home. He always takes an evidence-based approach and is not afraid to look outside the box to find what works best for the client.

Emily Schiaffi – Currently not taking new clients

Psychologist, BPsych (Honours)

Emily has extensive experience working with domestic violence, abuse and neglect, within the child protection system and in private practice. She is passionate about empowering children and adults to heal from trauma and move forward after experiencing grief and loss, in addition to management of depression and anxiety disorders. Emily has a warm and compassionate manner and works from a strengths-based, collaborative approach incorporating various therapeutic approaches to meet each individual’s unique needs.

Emily is experienced in a wide range of therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).  Emily can also provide psychometric assessments for children and adults to investigate a range of diagnoses (e.g. ADHD, intellectual impairmengt and learning disorders, PTSD, anxiety, depressive and personality disorders).

Eallany is a psychologist who provides a compassionate and solution-focused environment for individuals to talk about their concerns and wellbeing. Eallany holds a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, anger management, and relationship issues, and has a passion for family and couple’s therapy. She is also interested in maximizing workplace performance and has a bachelor’s degree in business. Her background includes working with clients across the lifespan, particularly with children who have special needs. She uses a range of evidence-based practice including cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, compassion focused therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy.

Justine Gilliland

Justine’s passion is that every individual would know they are invaluable; worthy of human flourishing and authentic connection.  As a counsellor, Justine offers a space for individuals to be seen and accepted, a space to process life’s challenges and struggles, and a space to discover the freedom to build a life that is meaningful to them.  She facilitates this through a range of practices tailored to their unique needs; including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and solutions focused therapy.  

Justine is also passionate about couple relationships built on friendship, meaningful connection, playfulness, and fun. She uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy to assist couples in strengthening their relationship through intentionally building a loving foundation. Justine is creative, compassionate, and courageous, and brings this energy into every area of her life including counselling.

Chloe Gould

Chloe is a client-centered provisional psychologist who provides a safe space for clients to feel seen, accepted, and empowered in their therapeutic journey. She is passionate about supporting clients across the lifespan with anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, trauma, and adjustment and transition difficulties. 

Chloe prioritises providing individualised support through hearing the clients’ story, their goals, and their strengths. This is informed by evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other strategies tailored to each individual.  Chloe also provides psychometric assessments for children, adolescents, and adults to explore various diagnoses, including ADHD, intellectual disabilities, and learning disorders.

Jared Ardern

Psychologist, Relationship Counsellor, Business Coach, BHRM/Counselling, GradCertPsych, GradDipPsych (Honours)

Jared is a general psychologist with 13 years of experience, with a strong background in relationship therapy, depression, anxiety, and trauma. He helps create a space where individuals are heard, validated, supported, and confident to move forward. Jared uses evidence-based interventions like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, solution-focused, and strength-based approaches. 

Jared helps couples communicate and deal with conflict effectively, including assisting them to identify and address root causes of conflict rather than going around in circles of blame. He also helps couples establish new patterns of showing love and respect for each other and teaches them the skills needed to have a satisfying and long lasting relationship.

Amir Gharavi

Behaviour Support Practitioner

Amir is a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner with extensive experience with the NDIS since 2020.  Coming from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background Amir works within a culturally aware framework, recognizing the importance of each individual’s unique perspective.

Amir’s passion is in helping people achieve the quality of life they want and deserve.  He has a person-centred appraoch; meeting individuals where they are and guiding them to where they want to be.  Using evidence-based strategies, Amir creates practical and effective behaviour support plans.

Currently studying a diploma in psychology, Amir is committed to continually enhancing his skills and knowledge to provide the best support for his clients.

Natalie Kile

Natalie is a Behaviour Support Practitioner who has a background in supporting youth in Child Safety, individuals with disabilities, and adults with psychosocial disabilities as the navigate rehabilitation and recovery from trauma.

With experience working with NDIS participants since 2022, Natalie adopts a fouc on person-centred care, with the aim to support individuals in improving their quality of life and achieving their personal goals.  She advocates for her clients and works to ensure they receive the necessary support to thrive.

Natalie is currently completing her Psychology Honours, she is committed to ongoing learning and professional development, staying up to date with best practices to provide effective support.

Michael Primero

Michael is a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Practitioner, committed to empowering individuals with diverse needs and their families. His client-centred approach is built on his extensive experience developing and implementing personalised support plans.  Michael’s diverse background includes over a decade in developmental disability and aged care services in both the public and private sectors and is complemented by his exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

Michael’s background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master’s in Science and Technology Studies; the latter of which has imbued him with a depth of understanding of the philosophical and sociological aspects of the science that we rely upon. His current research focus involves Integral Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology, and their ramifications for cognitive and behavioural sciences. His unique perspective allows him to holistically integrate multiple paradigms and practical solutions into his therapeutic interventions.

Michael has consistently achieved top performance ratings, developed innovative case management prototypes, and brings a strong commitment to Positive Behaviour Support—making him a valuable asset to the In Mind Therapy team.
