      Some Common Questions About Therapy

What Can Online or Telehealth Psychologists Help With?

At In Mind Therapy, our online and telehealth psychologists support people facing a wide range of challenges. These include (but are not limited to) relationship issues, grief and loss, chronic illness or injury, stress, anxiety, trauma, loneliness, depression, psychological impacts of medical conditions, behavioural difficulties, sleep or eating disturbances, work-related stress, and life transitions.

In short, if overwhelming thoughts, feelings, or behaviours are affecting your day-to-day wellbeing, connecting with an online or telehealth psychologist could be a helpful step forward.

What’s It Like to Work With an Online or Telehealth Psychologist?

It’s perfectly natural to feel uncertain or nervous before your first session. During your appointment, your psychologist will explain their approach, get to know your needs, and help you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace.

Some people feel relief after the first session, while for others, trust builds gradually over time. If your first therapist doesn’t feel like the right fit, it’s absolutely okay — and encouraged — to find someone who does. Our team is here to help you make that connection.

Is Online Psychology Covered by Medicare?

Yes – if you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year. While there might be a small out-of-pocket fee (often called a “gap”), many clients find telehealth psychology both accessible and cost-effective. If you’re unsure how to get started, we can help you navigate the process with your GP.

Does In Mind Therapy work with NDIS Participants?

At In Mind Therapy we believe that the NDIS psychological therapy experience should be focused on helping the NDIS participants achieve their goals. In Mind Therapy feels that evidence-based therapy combined with person centred focus will help NDIS participants reach their personal goals. We offer our services to NDIS participants in three ways: In clinic sessions, telehealth and mobile as our psychologists have a lot of experience working in community and in their participants homes.
